This project is a doctoral research led by Geneviève Fortin, a PhD candidate at the University of Montreal. It is conducted in collaboration with the James P. Grant School of Public Health at BRAC University in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The aim of this project is to identify structural factors that may influence adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights (ASRHR) in Dhaka’s slums, as well as contextually relevant priorities for action and recommendations informed by adolescents’ experiences to improve ASRHR.
Our research objectives are:
- To identify and compare structural factors that influence ASRHR for Dhaka and for Bangladesh;
- To understand and describe adolescents’ lived experiences of societal structures related to ASRHR in Dhaka slums;
- To identify priorities for action relevant to the local contexts of Dhaka’s slums to improve ASRHR and to formulate recommendations in collaboration with adolescents and stakeholders.
