about

My name is Geneviève Fortin and I’m a PhD candidate in Global Public Health at the School of Public Health of the University of Montreal in Canada. This site presents the results of my doctoral research project entitled “the shathe project” conducted in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

the shathe project · the together project
shathe. Bangla word meaning “together”, “together with”.

The shathe project (or the together project) is a participatory research project conducted by and for adolescents and youth in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. We took a structural look at the sexual and reproductive health and rights of adolescents and youth living in a slum in Dhaka.

Through their photos, 30 adolescents and youth were able to illustrate their experiences. Recommendations and priorities for action were identified to improve their realities.
